The future of world standards is sprouting in Korea

To cultivate future standard talents, the world's only youth international standard competition has kicked off. The National Institute of Technical Standards of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources (Dean: Chen Zhongxu) announced that the 19th International Standards Olympiad Finals will be held, with 120 junior and senior high school students from 11 countries including South Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, and Indonesia participating.

Eleven countries participated in the International Standard Olympic Games, including first-time participants Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan, making them the countries with the highest number of participants since the first Olympic Games in 2006. The final round of the competition will be contested by 40 teams selected through the national self selection round (20 in the intermediate group and 20 in the high school group), with more overseas participating teams (22) than domestic participating teams (18) for the first time.

*Out of 114 Chinese teams (342 players), 4 teams were selected, and out of 70 Peruvian teams (210 players), 1 team was selected.

This event will be held from August 12th to August 14th, lasting for three days and two nights. Starting from the opening ceremony, it will be conducted in the order of executing international standard document production topics, publishing evaluations and awards, and closing the ceremony. The project execution results of each participating team will be evaluated by judges sent by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), as well as a panel of domestic standard experts, to select the winning team. At the same time, various friendly projects such as standard related games and quiz shows that students can happily participate in together, and cultural exchanges showcasing traditional dances from different countries will also be held.
