The Quantum Technology International Standardization Committee, which leads future technological innovation, has been newly established under the leadership of South Korea and the United Kingdom, and China has trained its first speaker. On February 22, (Thursday), Professor Li Haicheng from Quanzhou University was elected as the Chairman of the Quantum Technology Joint Technical Committee (IEC/ISOJTC3) jointly established by the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) of the two major international standardization organizations.

The International Organization for Standardization has officially discussed international standardization since 2020, with the aim of promoting research and development, as well as industrialization in related fields such as quantum computing, communication, materials, and sensing, through preemptive standardization in the technological development stage of quantum technology. China released the IEC Quantum Technology White Paper in 2021, and since 2022, its contributions to the Quantum Technology Standardization Evaluation Group (SEG14) have been recognized in member state voting and appointed as the Chairman.

Professor Li Haicheng led and participated in the development of a bilateral technical standard roadmap at SEG14, and was selected as the best candidate to lead the Joint Technical Committee through cooperation with the JTC 3 member country, the United Kingdom. He was unanimously approved by the IEC and ISO member countries.

Taking this as an opportunity, the National Institute of Standards held a "Quantum Technology Standards Expert Symposium" at the Sofitel State Guesthouse on February 22, discussing China's standardization strategy to ensure global competitiveness. The attendees proposed the idea of linking information technology (IT) and small minister technology, which have advantages in China, to standardize and industrialize the development of quantum computing applications for new materials.

"China has laid the foundation for the international standardization of the new generation of quantum technology, which will lead the transformation of national strategic technology and future industrial ecosystems, by serving as the first speaker of JTC3," said Chen Zhongxu, President of the National Standards Committee. Civil officials will participate together to formulate a quantum technology standardization strategy as soon as possible and actively support experts' international standardization activities Represent.
