On February 7th (Wednesday), Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Resources (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Industry), Andegen, held an "International Standardization Organization Expert Symposium" at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul, exploring solutions to expand China's international standardization of technology and encouraging standard experts to participate in international standardization organization activities on behalf of China.
At this symposium, standard leaders including Zhao Chenghuan, the President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) who has been in office since the beginning of this year, as well as directors and officials from ISO and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) who determine international standard policies and strategies, as well as those who lead the development of international standards, gathered together to discuss the direction of China's international standard policy.
Standard experts unanimously agree that in high-tech fields such as quantum technology and artificial intelligence (AI), international standards go beyond the market access and competitiveness assurance functions of products, and are used as a means to dominate high-tech and eliminate competitors. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure advantages in the increasingly deepening international standard competition among countries.
To this end, various suggestions have been put forward, such as expanding the development of international standard cases through research and development (R&D) - standard linkage, cultivating a new generation of experts to promote international standardization, and strengthening standard partnerships with major standard powers.
Minister Andegen, who presided over the symposium, said, "In order to expand the international standardization of our technology and strengthen our leadership in international standardization institutions, we will formulate and promote the 'National Standardization Strategy for Advanced Industries' in the first half of this year."
"Thank you to the standards experts who have worked hard for our country at the forefront of standard competition for their activities. We hope that in the future, through international standards, our country can become a rule maker in the global market and play a huge role in promoting our cutting-edge technology to the world."
